About the Center

The National Curriculum Center aims to develop educational curricula in alignment with national development requirements and the latest scientific and educational theories and methods. The center strives to achieve a balance between Islamic values and national visions, while adhering to international best practices. Additionally, the center aspires to become a national center of expertise and a leading scientific and research reference in curriculum development at both the regional and international levels.

This development process upholds Islamic principles, national visions, and policy directions while adhering to international best practices.

Center's Specialties

Without prejudice to the mandates and responsibilities of other government entities, the Center may, in pursuit of its objectives, undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:

Propose the National Curriculum Strategy and submit it in accordance with regulatory procedures.

Develop policies, plans, programs, and tools aimed at advancing curricula in the Kingdom, in coordination with relevant authorities.

Develop, design, plan, review, approve, and license curricula.

Align curricula with post-secondary education programs, labor market requirements, and future skills needs.

Establish specialized research and development centers affiliated with the Center to execute specific tasks and responsibilities.

Collaborate with private, and non-profit entities specialized in publication and educational services inside and outside the Kingdom, to fulfill its mission and objectives.

Represent the Kingdom in international organizations, conferences, and relevant events subject to the approval of the concerned authorities.

Publish journals, periodicals, guidelines, bulletins, and research related to its functions and activities.

Develop a dedicated database for Saudi curricula to track progress in curriculum development and enhancement.

Approve the National Curriculum Framework in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, and other relevant entities, and follow up on its implementation after approval.

Develop curriculum standards in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, approve them, and update them periodically.

Develop general education plans and curriculum weightings according to the ministry guidelines.

Approve and review national identity curricula (Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, and Social Sciences) for private and international schools that adopt foreign curricula, in coordination with the Ministry.

Coordinate and collaborate with public, private, and non-profit entities inside and outside the Kingdom, to establish memorandum of understanding in accordance with regulatory procedures, to fulfill its mission and objectives.

Host regional, local and international forums, conferences, events and workshops focused on curriculum development, in line with official regulations.

Monitor and analyze global reports and indicators related to education and curricula, and work to enhance the Kingdom’s performance in collaboration with concerned entities.

Build strategic partnerships with local and global organizations, centers and expert institutions specialized in curriculum development.

Gather and monitor public opinions through various channels regarding curriculum development and improvement.
